Dear Me,

Dear Judaen,

Cariño, (that means sweetheart in Spanish), I have so much to share with you, and don’t worry if you don’t understand everything at first, you will soon enough.

You are right where you need to be and don’t you forget it! Continue singing, continue writing, continue smiling, continue learning, continue doing whatever brings you joy – you are a gift to this world. All of your talents are needed, and your voice is needed, too! Keep speaking up no matter what and accept correction and/or discipline when it happens. It’s okay. The correction is good for you, and the discipline will make you better in the long run.

You are royalty. Yes, royalty, my dear! Your father in Heaven, God, is a King, and you are His daughter, so you are a daughter of the King, and you are a princess. Don’t settle for less than who you are, than what you deserve. You deserve the best that God has for you, and He will give you everything you deserve and more in His timing – just be patient. Take everything day by day. There’s no need to rush because life and everything in it is a process.

Don’t apply too much pressure to yourself. Be the best you that you can be – showing up is part of the battle. The rest depends on your preparation and God, so prepare so you can always be ready when the right opportunity for you appears. And don’t worry about where you will be in 5, 10 or 20 years. Focus on being the best you that you can be. When you are passionate about something, go for it, put your whole heart into it. However, after doing that thing, you believe it is not for you or does not serve you at that time, it’s okay to put it down, and pick it back up again later if you so choose.

Everything doesn’t need to be some grandiose project. Some things are for you and you alone, which means that you don’t need to make everything public. Share, if it’s encouraging! But not all your opinions are for the public – that’s for you, God and your journal. In a world where social media is constantly changing, focus on your own growth. Don’t compare your journey to others – it will hurt you more than help you. You don’t always have to respond to something, and remember, when you do respond, respond with grace, never react out of anger. If you do react out of anger, be patient with yourself, realize you are wrong, apologize, and keep it moving. When the situation arises again, remember what happened in the past, and do better.

You will travel to so many places! New York, New Hampshire, California, Jamaica, Spain, Portugal, and these are just a few. You will learn a second language (Spanish), you will graduate from college, you will read many books, and you will write yourself silly! You are impactful. You are effective. You are great. Don’t seek to be successful based on the world’s standards because one day you’re in and the next day you’re out meaning you’re out as far as the world’s standards are concerned. Seek to be successful by God’s standards because with Him, you’re ALWAYS in.

You will be alone at times. Many people will come for a season, and others will stay for a lifetime. No matter who comes and goes, God will always be your biggest supporter, and the people he designates to you for a lifetime are not to be taken for granted. Also, continue to big up yaself, baby – encourage yourself always! Seek God for answers, seek your most trusted advisors for advice then push off into the ocean because God will always be with you in the waves. And if you push off “too early” or “too late,” remember, your Father in Heaven will always direct your path.

Your ideas are not for everyone, and you are not for everyone, but you will always be for God. You are chosen, you are royal, you are special, and you are holy. God didn’t call you to fit in, He called you to stand out!

Continue to obey God, love people, and serve the church. You’re gonna be just fine! I love you.
